North and South Korea After Sundown

Can you believe this? The North Koreans (with the exception of Kim Jong Il and his henchmen) are literally living in the dark ages. Communism rocks!

"As the world grapples with how to rein in the "axis of evil" state which this week conducted a nuclear test, this spectacular satellite photo unveiled yesterday by US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld shows in stark detail the haves and have-nots of the Korean peninsula.

The regime in the north is so short of electricity that the whole country is switched off at 9 p.m. - apart from the capital of Pyongyang where dictator Kim Jong-il and his cohorts live in relative luxury. But even there, lighting is drastically reduced."

"Mr Rumsfeld showed the picture to illustrate how backward the northern regime really is - and how oppressed its people are. Without electricity there can be none of the appliances that make life easy and that we take for granted, he said."

Jack and the Squash

It's pumpkin patch time! This was Jack's second trip to the patch this season, so he's now a harvest festival veteran. It was fun to see him feed the animals (watch those fingers!), ride in the tractor-pulled wagon, and race through the hundreds of pumpkins. He even tried to help his daddy push the wheelbarrow that was holding our loot (without much luck). Maybe next year, Jack-a-doo!

Happy Birthday, Sissy!

Happy Birthday to my favorite sister! I didn't know if you would want a current picture posted on my site (for fear you may have to endure all those pesky members of the paparazzi), so I thought these pics would suffice. You look slightly different today, but not much. I know the bottom one is a favorite of yours. How could it not? It's freakin' adorable! I hope you had a great day and I'll see you on Friday!
