Ha, Ha, Ha???

Just doesn't have the same ring to it. I'm interested to see what the Politically Correct police do to the Easter bunny. Might need to lose the carrot...a little too suggestive.

"SYDNEY (AFP) - Santas in Australia's largest city have been told not to use Father Christmas's traditional "ho ho ho" greeting because it may be offensive to women, it was reported Thursday.

Sydney
's Santa Clauses have instead been instructed to say "ha ha ha" instead, the Daily Telegraph reported.

One disgruntled Santa told the newspaper a recruitment firm warned him not to use "ho ho ho" because it could frighten children and was too close to "ho", a US slang term for prostitute.

"Gimme a break," said Julie Gale, who runs the campaign against sexualising children called Kids Free 2B Kids.

"We are talking about little kids who do not understand that "ho, ho, ho" has any other connotation and nor should they," she told the Telegraph.

"Leave Santa alone."

A local spokesman for the US-based Westaff recruitment firm said it was "misleading" to say the company had banned Santa's traditional greeting and it was being left up to the discretion of the individual Santa himself."

Mmmm....pumpkin cheesecake.

This looks soooooooo yummy. I think I might have to test this recipe. It's actually cold enough outside to turn my oven on without risking a heat stroke. The lack of A.C. in my apt makes it a tad uncomfortable to bake in the warmer months (which is most of the year). Now that fall is upon us, I'm breaking out the cookie sheets and cake pans. Woo hoo!!!

Here's the recipe if you're interested. You better invite me over if you make it.

Halloween at Mattel

Another Halloween at Mattel Children's Hospital and the kids had a great time as usual. I was just a lady in black until my friend Arlyn "borrowed" some cat ears from our Child Life department for me. This picture was taken at the end of my shift which is why I look like a kitten who's been dragged for a couple miles. Jenifer and Kristina work the night shift so they were a bit more spry.

I always enjoy working on Halloween because it's one of the few days of the year when the kids can forget about their illness and just be kids. The Child Life dept. works very hard to ensure that every child has a costume to wear and that they are showered with treats. They put on a magic show and have a trick or treating session where the kids visit various offices to collect their loot. For the patients who are unable to leave their room, the volunteers make sure they are not left out by providing a big bag of treats to explore while sitting in bed. The magician also visited the patients who were not able to participate in the group gathering to give them a private performance. The kids loved it! Kudos to the very dedicated Child Life department!

Hope you all had a very Happy Halloween!
